The People Developers 2009

Here is an update of how the Spring of 2009 shaped up....

January, February and March 2009

The People Developers have had a good start to 2009 with continued engagement with the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) and the project management of the Registered Practitioner of the Institute for Outdoor Learning (RPIOL) scheme. This accreditated scheme provides a map of good practice showing path towards integrated professionalism, a framework which can be integrated with appraisals/staff development, evidence of experience of session leadership and an integrated stepping stone towards APIOL - which is the IOL's high level of professional accreditation. RPIOL is applicable across all areas of outdoor learning; it increases flexibility and career options.

Peter Braidwood has been accredited to use two Emotional Intelligence questionnaires through John Cooper Associates (JCA) - a team of highly experienced Occupational Psychologists. Visitors to this website will come across references to the Ie (Individual effectiveness)and the Te (Team effectiveness) questionnaires on the relevant personal and team development pages. The JCA - Ei approches are superb additions to the toolbox and portfolio of The People Developers.

Peter Braidwood has been awarded Chartered Fellow of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (FCIPD). The award celebrates Peter's tenth year as a generalist trainer and adds to his other 15 years as a professional outdoor learning practitioner and outdoor instructor.

Chartered Fellow is the most senior grade of membership that can be applied for. To become a Chartered Fellow you must have ten years relevant experience at managerial level, seven of which must be in a specific HR or people development role. Current and most recent roles must be at a strategic management level, confirming career progression.

Solvitas Perambulum

The popular Walk and Talk programme which has been used by The People Developers for many years has gone through a redesign process. The Romans coined the phrase ‘solvitas perambulum’, which means ‘solve it as you walk’. They believed that the combination of fresh air, removing themselves physically from the source of the problem, light physical exercise and creative inspiration from nature worked wonders if they needed to sort through issues in their minds.
